Brigid, Daughter of the Daghda

The Cailleach is considered the winter manifestation of Brigid, associated with Samhain and the death cycle.  She is the crone, the wise woman, the witch, the hag.  She personifies the elemental powers of nature especially in it’s destructive aspect, strong winds, rough seas and craggy outcrops.  Her father is Dagda and her mother Morrigan.  Morrigan is also a triple goddess and can manifest as 3 hags or 3 crows.  She is associated with battle, strife and death, but also with fate and birth and is said to appear before a death to escort the deceased. But descent into darkness is essential for rebirth, so she is a very necessary part of the cycle of life and transformation.
